Sunday Scrappin'

I am pleased to announce that I have completed my pre-baby scrapbooking goal:  The princess' scrapbook is complete, up to her first birthday!  Woot!

The pages for this week just needed some words and embellishments added to them, so it was not much work.

Here is the princess at 11 months:

Sunday Scrappin'

I have a feeling I will not be doing much scrapbooking in the near future.  Already, things like cleaning baseboards and searching for the perfect wall border for the baby's room have taken over as my priorities.  :)

I did find some time this week to do a 28-week ultrasound page for Baby 2.  I searched for ideas online and kept coming across the idea of including a silhouette of a pregnant woman.   I ended up taking a photo of myself from when I was 28 weeks pregnant, enlarging and printing it, then cutting the outline from a piece of black paper.  I was pleased with the result.

I tried to use darker colors on this page to complement the black and white ultrasound pictures.  I did want a bit of "girly" colors in there, so I chose a dark purple.  I used the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge on my Cricut for the letters and embellishments.

The writing on this page says, "02/24/11 - We got to see your beautiful face today.  You liked to keep you arms by your face, and you were very active.  You actually smiled at one point, and they captured it on film.  Precious!  You measured at 2 pounds 8 oz.  That's the 50th percentile."
I also finished 2 pages for the princess' scrapbook a few weeks ago, and I just realized I never posted them!  Here are months 8 and 9!

The wording on her 8 month page says, "You have to be walked to sleep.  You know Monkey's name and attack him on command.  You let go and hold objects while standing.  You crawl with your belly off the floor.  You carry Bluebeary in your mouth as you crawl."
Her 9 month page says, "We moved from California to Ohio this month and are living with Nana and Papaw while Daddy looks for a job.  You get to see both sets of grandparents on a daily basis right now.  You adore your cousin Drew.  New words:  Mama and buh (ball).  You eat table foods and like to feed yourself.  You like to put a blanket on your own head and play peek-a-boo.  You still have to be walked to sleep, and you wake 2 times a night for milk."

Sunday Scrappin'...plus some "nesting"

I have been a scrappin' slacker lately!  However, this week the ladies at our church had a "whatever" day where we met at one lady's house and worked on whatever craft we had going.  For me, that was of course scrapbooking.  I was only able to be there for 2 hours, and in the midst of the talking and bonding, I did complete three more pages!

Here is "6 months" from the princess' baby scrapbook.  The written highlights say:
"Bluebeary goes everywhere with you now."
"You can drink from a sippy cup."
"You can crawl now...military style."
"You like to play with Daddy's shoelaces."
"New foods:  Bananas, pears, applesauce, prunes, oranges"
"You like to play peek-a-boo."
"You seem to be trying to say 'blue' and 'hi'."

Here is "7 months" from the princess' baby scrapbook. The written highlights say:
"You like Mommy to sing, 'My God is so BIG'."
"You still wake up 2-3 times every night."
"New foods:  Meat (you like it), popsicles (you don't like the coldness)."
"When you wake up in the mornings, you like to pull down your crib bumper and play with anything nearby."
"You saw the ocean for the first time at Guadalupe Beach.  It was a hot day and we went for a drive so we could have air conditioning.  You slept in the car and were not happy to wake up!"
"You can pull yourself to a stand and you try to climb over everything."
Here is "10 months" from the princess' baby scrapbook. (I skipped months 8 and 9 for the time being because the photos did not fit with the template I wanted to use.)  The written highlights of this page say:
"We live in a tiny, temporary apartment in Columbus, Ohio while Mommy works at The Ohio State University Hospital.  You stay home with Daddy all day, and on the weekends we travel to see Mawmaw and Pawpaw, Nana and Papaw."
"Your sleep pattern in horrible.  You have to be walked to sleep or pushed around in your stroller until you fall asleep."
"Your favorite things all seem to start with "B":  Bluebeary, Book, Bottle, Ball."
"You took your first step at Mawmaw's house on November 29th.  Only Mommy and Mawmaw saw."
"You LOVE cars and trucks.  We bought you your first tractor toy this month."
Here are some more products of my nesting.  These wearable blankets were actually made for a friend to give as gifts.  I think I'm finally getting the hang of making these.
And I decided to crochet a little hat for the baby.  Love it!  I hope she's a hat-wearer like the princess, because hats are my favorite...on little ones, not on myself...  :)

Sunday Scrappin': 4 months and 5 months

I completed 2 scrapbook pages last week.  I went a bit simple on these, and I really like the way they turned out.  In fact, the 5 month page is currently my favorite one in the princess' book.  I just love the colors.

It was difficult to limit the amount of pictures for these two months.  She was just so photogenic at that stage.  And I take a lot of pictures!!!

I need to keep working on these, doing 2 pages a week.  I need to catch up on the princess' first 2 years before Baby arrives in May!  2 pages a week should be more than enough to reach that goal!

Sunday Scrappin': 3 Months Old

I was able to get 2 more scrapbook pages completed this week.  Another is in the works, but I have some detail to complete before sharing.  I think scrapbooking is my way of nesting.  :)  I got a LOT of pages done just before the princess was born, and I feel pretty productive this time around as well!

Page 1 was an opening page for Baby's scrapbook, telling why we chose her name and what it means.  That page will be shared at a later date.  For your viewing pleasure, here is page 2:  The princess at 3 months of age.  :)

Sunday Scrappin'

I was able to complete two more pages for the princess' scrapbook this week.  I really put some thought into the blog post I cited last week, and I decided to do one page per month of the princess' first year of life.  This way I can limit the number of pages I am creating, but I will still be able to highlight my favorite pictures and include some milestones of her life from each month.  She changed so much during the first year of life, and I want her to be able to see and read about what she did when.  So...here are the pages from when she was 1 and 2 months old!

I also switched cameras for the photos for my blog.  This one seems to capture clearer still-shots, so maybe you will be able to read the words this week too!

Sunday Scrappin'

It's time for Sunday Scrappin'!  I finished two pages this week.  These pages took entirely too long to complete, and I blame it on my Cricut ignorance.  This week's lesson:  Do not use cheap paper to print intricate details.  :)  I also learned that the glue I am using on my pictures is causing the paper to roll.  I will be switching to tape as soon as I have a chance to get some!

The lettering on this page is from the Opposites Attract cartridge.  The big O was hand-designed, and I went with a simple corner scissor-cut on the photos to give them more of a professional photo feel.  Here's our little Buckeye Baby:
Page 2 is in honor of our California youth group.  They were the first ones outside the family to hold the princess after she was born.  They are such a special group of people, and I definitely want the princess to have at least one page to remember them by!  The writing on this page is from the Opposites Attract cartridge, and the background designs are from Plantin Schoolbook.
I read an article tonight that caught my interest.  A dear friend of mine wrote about her plan to do scrapbooks for her children that will only require 3 nights per year!  I love her ideas, and I think I will be implementing some of them myself.  I think it is a great idea to limit the amount of pages in my daughter's scrapbook and to actually consider the story I want her scrapbook to tell.  Take a look at Rachel's post, and check out her great ideas!

Sunday Scrappin'

I finished two more scrapbook pages for the princess' scrapbook.  I really haven't done much since she was born, so I have a lot of work in order to catch up!  My two pages this week were for her first month of life:

I found it difficult to get the paper and photos to stick to this glitter background.  Maybe next time I will have to use something other than paste.

Once again, this picture is a bit blurry.  The writing tells the date of her first bath and the name of her first visitor!

I want to continue my 2 pages a week habit that I have begun.  I ordered more prints online, and I visited Hobby Lobby this week.  I should be set with supplies for awhile!  I am eliminating excuses...

Sunday Scrappin' - 20 Week Ultrasound

This has been creativity week here at the Farley Funhouse.  I experimented with my Cricut earlier this week and made 2 Thank You cards (with matching envelopes).  Then the princess was escaping from her wearable blanket at naptime, so I redid the neckline on that.  Since my sewing machine was already out, I also completed 2 other wearable blankets that were almost finished.  I made a pine wood derby car for The AWANA Grand Prix at church today.  And in the midst of all this creativity, I accomplished my scrapbooking goal for this week!  I began Baby 2's scrapbook by completing 2 20-week ultrasound pages.  The pictures are a little blurry, but I think you'll get the idea.

I wish the writing in the bottom heart showed up better.  A friend reminded me of these verses, and I agree with her - they are the perfect words to reflect on when viewing ultrasound pictures:

For you formed my inward parts;
you knitted me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.
Psalm 139:13-14 (ESV)

I do not have a goal for next week yet.  I do want to accomplish another scrapbook page, but I do not have printed pictures yet!  I think my goal will be to go through my pictures and order prints of the ones that I deem worthy of being put into a scrapbook.

Sunday Scrappin'

I have two completed scrapbook pages to share this week.  I ended up getting a bit of Christmas money, and I used that to invest in a Cricut!  My Cricut arrived Friday morning, and I began playing with it that night.  After some frustration and almost throwing the thing across the room, I am beginning to get the hang of it...and I am in love with it.  :)

For my first Cricut project, I decided to redo two scrapbook pages I had done a year and a half ago for my husband, of him and our daughter.  I have always hated how these pages turned out.  I don't know if I was pressed for time when I made them or what, but I think the writing is hideous.  Here is a before shot:.

And...Ta-da!  The magic of a Cricut:

My to-do project for this week is an ultasound page.  I want to start on Baby 2's scrapbook...to make sure something actually gets done on it!  :)  Hopefully I will have something cute to post for you next Sunday!

Sunday Scrappin'

Introducing...another new section of my blog.  This one is called "Sunday Scrappin".  Why am I adding all these blog features?  Well, my posts have become boring.  "Here's what we are doing.  Princess is so cute.  Look at these pictures."  I want to spice things up a little bit and give a little more variety.  Also - the new sections I am introducing are intended to keep me working hard throughout the week.  I cannot post about Tot School unless I actually work on teaching things to our little princess.  I cannot do book reviews unless I actually read some books.  And I cannot post about recent crafts I have completed...unless I actually do the crafts!

So here we go...

My Ta-Da for this week is a "Daddy's Girl" page from when our princess was a newborn (20 months ago).  I have not done any scrapbooking since May, so this was a big step for me.  It is a simple page, but it is a completed page!
My To-Do for this week:  Another page for the princess' baby book
